be back until January.
Old
Business
Ron Robinson
attended the President’s Meeting. Thus far, 51 members have
signed up for the October 12th “Salute to Columbus” General
Meeting. Members are to bring Italian food for the main
course and American food for desserts. The Rosen’s, Longo’s
and Gazzola’s will help with the set up. The Nominating
Committee still needs to fill the following positions: Web
Master, Out and About and Movie Time.
New
Business
John Miller expressed concern about the dwindling membership
in the Newcomers. 30-40 Newcomers are moving up to the
Floridians. This will reduce the Newcomers membership to
approximately 80 members and new homeowners are at a low
point. John made a motion that the Floridians continue to
extend our membership events to the Newcomers for another
year. The motion was approved by the Board as submitted.
Further discussion is needed on whether we should continue
to do reciprocal gatherings/events. Further discussion is
needed re: repercussions, if any, for not notifying the
Committee chairperson responsible for a certain activity,
that they cannot attend a function.
Judy Berger
attended the President’s Council Meeting.
The annual
meeting of the Civic Association and various clubs will be
held 11/2/09 @7:00.
Beth has
indicated her interest in having a float in the Xmas Parade.
Bagged Ice is
now available at the Civic Association for $1.25/bag.
Judy will
advise us of any additional discussions by the Council at
the next Board meeting.
Judy will be
setting up a committee to organize the Xmas party December
14th. John will call the Lowy’s of the Newcomers
to extend an invitation to their members.
John Owen
presented his thoughts for the upcoming Canal Lighting
Contest. The PGICA would like to see more and bigger prizes
for the top winners, in addition to the usual winners’ ride
up the river on the Kingfisher. The home decorating
participants must be registered, but this number has been
dwindling. Various ways to get homeowners who have beautiful
decorations, but do not register, were discussed.
The meeting
was adjourned @3:45
Respectfully
submitted
