FLORIDIAN BOARD MEETING July 6, 2009

9:30AM PGICA

 In attendance: John Miller, Judy Berger, JoAnnGulvezan.

 Minutes

Sue MacKay was not in attendance. The June and July minutes will be presented at the August Board Meeting.

 Treasurer’s Report

JoAnn reported that we have a balance of $3200.00.

She also mentioned that we have an uncashed check made out to Jaclyn Cushman dating back to the April meeting. She will contact Ms Cushman about this matter

 Membership

We have one new member, Marie Devlin.

 Committee Reports:

            Eat, Drink & Be Merry

                        Food & Friends

Lorraine Geiser sent an email to John explaining that she now has a second host for the July 24 Food and Friends.

She thanks the June hosts the Rosens and the Bergers.

There will be no F & F in August.

She needs someone to handle the Sept. F & F as she will be out of town.

Judy volunteered to do this.

Lunch Bunch

Betty Peterson is handling this month for Cynthia.

Norma Angus was the hostess in June. Eighteen members attended this delightful lunch.

JoAnn Gulvezan is the hostess for the July 8 lunch.

Meet n Greet

Eighteen members met for drinks at Jack’s on July 2, sixteen stayed for dinner.

            Fun n Sun

                        Out and About

Helen Connolly organized a successful dinner and play trip to the Venice Little Theater in June. Twenty members attended.

No activities are planned for July and August.

 

Dine Around

We are checking to see if something can be arranged at the newly opened Phil’s during the month of July.

Darlene Rosen has offered to organize an outing to the Sakura Buffet in Port Charlotte some time in August.

Movie Time

Joan Dickson mentioned that eight people attended the movie in June and dined at Madison’s after the show.

She will announce the July movie at a later date.

            Commentator

                        It is not published in August.

            Web Site

                        Bob will not be back until January.

Old Business

The July 13 Meeting will be a cook-out featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, beer and soft drinks. Members are asked to provide sides, appetizers, and desserts.

New Business

            Planning for future meetings

Janet Ketts was mentioned as a possible chairman for the November meeting which is going to be a M.A.S.H. party.

The Nominating Committee is contacting members.

The PGICA board is interested in expanding the Christmas Canal Lighting Contest. John Owen will be notified.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:10.
