MINUTES

FLORIDIAN BOARD MEETING January 7, 2009

 

Called to order at 1:30PM.

In attendance: Pres. John Miller, V.Pres. Judy Berger, Treas. JoAnn Gulvezan, Bob Cormier, Mary Mazar, Cynthia Cowdrey, Ron Robinson, Sandra Helt, Brenda McGinnis, Bob Dorman, John Owen, Delayed- Sec. Sue MacKay.

 Minutes

The December minutes of the 2008 Board were accepted and approved.

The December minutes of the 2009 Board will be accepted at the Feb. board meeting.

 Treasurer’s Report

We currently have a balance of $2963.00.

 Membership Report

About 125 members have paid their 2009 dues. It is expected that several more will pay at the Jan.12 General Meeting.

Board members will be asked to contact non paid members after the first of Feb.

  Committee Reports

            Eat, Drink and Be Merry

                        Food & Friends

                        Lorraine will have a sign up at the Jan. 12 meeting. The Supakoffs will be

                        the host on Jan. 23.

                        Lunch Bunch

Cynthia reported that she has hostesses for several months. Janet Ketts has 36 ladies signed up for the Jan. 14 “Gift Swap Luncheon”. Ladies who do not provide a dish for the lunch will be asked to bring donations for a food pantry. Judy Berger will hostess the Feb. 11 “Citrus Lunch” at her clubhouse.

                        Meet & Greet

                        Judy Berger will investigate Seminole Lakes Golf Club and Beef O Brady

                        as potential sites for future parties.

            Fun & Sun

A Guided Walking Tour of historic Ft.Myers is planned for Jan. 21 along with lunch at the Oasis Café.

            Sports & Games

                        Ron Robinson has organized a Bike Ride on Boca Grand on Mon. Jan. 26                                followed by lunch at the South Beach Bar and Grill.

Movie Time & Dine Around will be combined on Jan 27 with dinner at Carraba’s.

            Commentator

Sandra will be attending a writing class for the Commentator at 3:00 today.

Bob Cormier has met with Anne Moeller to plan his transition as site manager.

Old Business

            Canal lighting contest update- John Owen

The 40 winning households were listed in the Jan. Commentator. The owners and the judges will be treated to cruise on the Kingfisher Good Times II on Jan. 25. The club will provide the wine for this party. John has offered to organize this contest again in 2009.

            Jan. 12 General Meeting- Mixer

            Wine, beer and soda will be provided. Members are asked to bring hors d’oevres.

            A celebrity name guessing game will be played as a mixer.

Judy Berger will write out the name stickers and oversee the game. When a person guesses his/her name they will be given a raffle ticket good for a prize at the end of the evening.

 New Business

            Cheffy and Blue Bayou have already been booked for the Dec. 14 Holiday Party.

            Cynthia Cowdrey will coordinate it.

            The Pineapplegrams will be handled by the president or vice president.

The February meeting will feature Member Volunteers and the civic causes they represent.

The March meeting will feature Member Musicians.

The April meeting will be a picnic at the Pavilion.

The May meeting will tentatively ask for a community update from Team Punta Gorda.

The June meeting will have pizza and games.

The July meeting will be a summer cookout at the Pavilion with the Newcomers.

The Sept. meeting will have a Floridian version of the Newlywed Game.

The Oct. Meeting will be a “Taste of Floridians”.

The Nov. meeting will have the election and a Trivia game.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:15
