MINUTES
FLORIDIAN BOARD MEETING December 3, 2008
The meeting was called to order by
President Brenda McGinnis at 1:30PM. Also in attendance were
John Miller, Robin Stebbins, Judy Berger, John Owen, Ron
Robinson, Betty Peterson, Naomi Gazzola, and Bob Dorman.
The minutes from the Nov. 5
board meeting were approved and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report
Robin reported that our balance was
$2,574.34 at the beginning or November and $3,917.23.
$1,499.00 was deposited from Christmas party sales. That
amount will be used on Dec. 8.
Membership
A dues reminder will be sent out.
John Miller moved that we reduce dues
to $15.00 for single members. The couple dues would remain
at $25.00. The motion was approved by the board and will go
into effect immediately.
Committee Reports
Eat Drink and Be Merry
Naomi
announced that Mary Gienko will hostess Lunch Bunch in Dec.
Janet Ketts will be the hostess in Jan. She thanked Jeanne
Kapps for hostessing in Nov.
Betty Peterson
will host Food and Friends on Dec. 19. It will be a cocktail
and hors d’oeuvers party.
Meet and
Greet
The Dec. 4 M &
G will be combined with the Venice Stroll and dinner at
T.J.Carney’s.
Fun and Sun
The Nov. 18
Mystery Tour appealed to eighteen members. The destination
was the Charlotte County Solid Waste Disposal Treatment
Facility on Zemel Rd. The two hour informative tour was
followed by lunch at the Burnt Store Grill. All of the
participants were enthusiastic about the quality of the
tour.
Thirteen
members have signed up for the Punta Gorda Garden Club’s
Holly Days House Tour and lunch at Elena’s.
Dine
Around/Movie Time
The Nov. film
was the James Bond release. Dinner followed at Carraba’s.
Commentator
Lorraine needs Jan. events for her next
column.
Ron Robinson reported that eight men
are playing in the new “Minor League Golf Group
on Friday.
Old Business
Canal Lighting Contest
John Owen
reported that applications have been distributed. The
contest has been advertised in the Commentator and all of
the newspapers. There are twenty two members on the
committee. There will be a meeting on Sat. to assign judges.
Christmas
Party
There are
ninety five people who have paid for the party. Thirty five
of them are Newcomers. Set up is Sun. Dec. 7 at 1:30. We
will have 12 tables of 8. Janet Ketts has been collecting
the money and will write out the place cards.
The party will
be at 6:00 on Dec. 8.
Blue Bayou has
been booked for the Dec. 2009 party for a fee of $450.
Jan. 12
Meeting
The new
members will be introduced.
Wine and hors
d’oeuvers will be served.
A mixer game
will be played. A famous person’s name will be stuck on each
person’s back. Each person will have to ask yes or no
questions to guess the name. As each person guesses the name
they will be given a raffle ticket and one prize will be
drawn after everyone has guessed who they are.
