FLORIDIAN BOARD MEETING January 3, 2007

 

PRESENT: Bob Dorman, President; Brenda McGinnis, Vice President; John Owen, Secretary; John Miller, Treasurer; Mark McGinnis, Membership;  Anne Moeller, Web Site; Ron Robinson, Fun-N-Sun; and Bonnie Verminski, Food and Friends.  ABSENT: Judy Berger, Outreach; Marilyn Jorgensen, Sports and Games and Peggy Modglin, Food and Friends.

Bob Dorman called the meeting to order at 1:05 PM.

MINUTES: The Transition Board Meeting Minutes were approved with the following correction: Under New Business change spelling to Joan Dickson.

TREASURER’S REPORT: John Miller reported that total assets of the club at end of 2006 were $2,095.74 with the checking account balance of $1900.34.  Joe Ferry has turned in the 4^th Quarter report to the PGI Civic Association.  The final Holiday Party payment was $1106.00.

MEMBERSHIP: Brenda McGinnis reported for Mark that 44 households have paid their 2007 dues.  A reminder e-mail will be sent out to the membership.

ACTIVITIES:

Sun n Fun: Ron Robinson reported that 38 people have signed up for the January 22 Boca Grande bike ride and luncheon at the Fishery.  The ride will start and 9:30 AM and last about 2 hours. Additional sign ups will be available at the General Meeting.

The concert events have only a few sign ups.  Bob Dorman suggested that another concert event might be the Rock a Pella group being held in Punta Gorda.  Bob will follow up on this.  Brenda suggested attending the Symphony Pops Concert.

Ron also reported that Dine Around will be held at Bubbas in Cape Coral on January 18 at 5:30PM.

Movie Time will be held on January 10.  An e-mail announcement is being sent out.

Pot Luck : Bonnie Verminski and Peggy Modglin are brainstorming a more inclusive name for the food events. Anne Moeller is currently using  “Epicurean”on the website.  Hostess and attendee responsibility descriptions will be sent to the membership.  Ladies Lunch Bunch will be held at Janet Ketts on January 10.  Food and Friends  will be held at John and Barbara Owen’s house on January 26.  Twenty  people have signed up so far.  Another host may be needed if more sign up.   Eight for Dinner will be held in February.

Birding: Ann Moeller has about 10 people signed up for this group.  An organizational meeting will be held on Friday, January 5 at 9:00 AM.  An outing is planned for January 16.  It was decided to see how this group develops and if necessary invite the Newcomers to join.

General Meeting: Bob Dorman reported that Marilyn Jorgensen has 4 experienced Bunco players to lead the activity.  Tables will be set up for 68 people.  Board members will make brief introductions of new members.  Sign up sheets will be available for activities.  Membership lists will be available for people to verify their information and order name tags.  John Miller will handle 50/50.
