MINUTES

FLORIDIAN BOARD MEETING December 5, 2006

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:  John Owen, Barbara Owen, Brenda McGinnis, Mark McGinnis, Terry Miller, Joe Ferry, Anne Moeller, Ron Robinson, Bonnie Verminski  

President John Owen called meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. 

MINUTES: November Board minutes approved.  

TREASURER’S REPORT: Balance as of 12/5 is $2889.89. Name tags - $76.00. $1724 received in checks for Christmas party.  

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  John thanked current board members for their service during 2006. Many current board members will serve on the 2007 board in different positions along with several incoming Newcomers’ members. 

MEMBERSHIPOutgoing chair Toni Dorman will meet with incoming chair Mark McGinnis to get dues notices out. Suggestion made to include a form at bottom of the notice to allow members to update information if desired. There are currently 65 member households with a possible 27  incoming ones. The membership chair will set up a mentor program to help new members feel at home. Each board member will receive a list of names to call to invite to upcoming activities. The idea of opening membership to PGICA members of 3 years or more will be passed on to the new board to consider and act upon. 

GENERAL MEETINGS:  December meeting will be replaced by the Holiday Party.  

SUN AND FUN:  Meet and Greet (December 7) will combine with Dine Around. Call Robin Stebbins. Meet at T J Carney’s Restaurant at 4:30 p.m. & enjoy Venice Christmas Stroll (5 – 8 p.m.) 

OUT AND ABOUT AND SPORTS AND GAMES:

December 29 – Holiday lights at Edison Home in Ft. Myers (approximately 6:30 p.m.) More information will be sent out by e-mail. Sign up sheet at Christmas Party.

Floridians members are encouraged to attend the PGICA New Year’s Eve Party.

Birding Club: Anne Moeller announced the fledgling group has 10 founding members. 

POTLUCKS: 

Ladies Lunch Bunch – Dec.6 at Laurel Nelson’s home.

Eight for Dinner – Dec. 15 at Jim & Mary Gienko’s home. Ten are already signed up. Unless another host volunteers, there will be only this one home.

HOLIDAY PARTYDec. 11 - Terry Miller reported the joint committee will arrange tables and decorate. Anne Moeller suggested and the board approved a Christmas tie contest for the men. Appetizers and cocktails (BYOB) will be 6 – 6:45 p.m. followed by dinner and dancing. McSquared will play from 7 – 10 p.m. Reminders will be sent to bring a toy for the Redlands migrant preschool center. A cleanup crew will be hired with the cost of $250 being split with the Newcomers Club. Terry has confirmed menu with Jerry Pressler. 

Other Business: Ron Robinson reported that the Holiday Cruise will have 18 people going.
